What causes a sore lower back when you sit in a car seat for prolonged periods?
My car seat is old, cheap and not ergonomically designed (ie it has no lumbar support). After sitting in it for more than 20-30 minutes, my back gradually becomes more and more sore, to the point where I have to get out and stretch.
I do tons of weight training for my back (deadlifts etc.) but it normally has not soreness whatsoever, only when I sit in my car seat.
Can anyone suggest a cause for this, and how it may be prevented?

Your lumbar spine takes the brunt of the pressure and weight when you are sitting, and standing for that matter. I would suggest a small roll or pillow right behind your lower back. That will give support to help your back from becoming sore. Also keeping your abdominal muscles tucked in (rather than relaxed and juttting forward) will help your back from becoming sore.
