What is the most annoying thing that has ever happened to your orthodontic appliances?
like braces, headgear, and things like that.
i am NOT looking for sticking out tie wires or archwires. I mean TRULY annoying.
I think that I can also accept someone else's orthodontics.
I've never had anything in my mouth like that, but my little brother, who is not so little anymore at 21 years old, had braces when he was 12-15. Yes, he had them on for 3 years! And the orthodontist tried to convince him to keep them on another year! But, I digress, he had an extremely annoying thing that happened to him. It was actually quite painful. I'll start by saying, he was in karate, so he was always getting knocked in the face. After about 6 months of having them, he started getting these awful canker sores. Every time the braces cut his cheeks or if he got hit, he would get a new sore. He eventually got a good medicine that took care of them, but for about 2 years, he always had sores all over the inside of his cheeks and the inside and outside of his lips. And since the infections on his cheeks were touching his gums, he got them there too. He couldn't stand having braces and sores. When he was at home, he would keep peroxide soaked cotton balls in his cheeks. He looked really funny. But I didn't make fun of him because I knew how bad just one small sore in your mouth can hurt. I couldn't imagine having huge chronic canker sores all through my mouth for 2 years straight!
