When I injured my back I found it very painful to rise out of a chair. Someone would have to stand in front of me for me told onto to pull myself up. My dog, who in those days was allowed out on his own, came back one day with a long straight branch. He would often bring branches back and take them straight into the back garden and chew them to bits. This he did with this one. Then he came back in dragging this big branch which he'd chewed just the side branches off. He dropped it at my feet and I was about to tell him off when I realised it was just what I needed. I could use this pole, put in front of me and sort of climb up it to the standing position. All the adults around me hadn't thought of that one but the dog did. How did he know what I needed? Great dog.
