PLEASE HELP
IM SO STUCK
This is really easy. Just relax. You can do this.
You know that a kilowatt is a thousand watts. So 1000 watts is one kilowatt. 100 watts is .1 kilowatt. 9 watts is .009 kilowatts. Just move the decimal point three places to the left and you have kilowatts.
So when switched on, the TV is .09 kilowatts, the DVD player is .019 kilowatts, the set top box is .01 kilowatts. I'll let you figure the standby wattage yourself.
Then you just add things up. For instance, when they're watching a DVD for two hours, the DVD is using 19 watts, the TV is using 90 watts, and the set top box, on standby, is using 7 watts. And that up, convert to kilowatts, and you have the number of kw being consumed.
But there's something missing here. Do they turn everything on when they begin watching TV? Or are the TV, set top box and DVD player all running all the time (like we do with ours)? If so, the standby power is 24 hrs minus whatever time the device is actually being used.
For example, if everything is just left on all the time, the TV is on 7 hrs a day, so it would be on standby the other 17 hrs.
If everything is turned on just when watching TV, then there would be no 'standby' time on the TV.
